Checking out with Truemed is easy

The process differs slightly between one-time orders and subscriptions. Choose yours below.

01

Select Truemed at checkout

At the payment step, look for the Truemed option and select it to pay with HSA/FSA. Exit any Shop Pay pop-up if it appears, since that's a different flow.

02

Complete the health survey

A quick, private survey reviewed by a licensed practitioner, usually around 2 minutes. They confirm your eligibility, and if approved you pay with your HSA/FSA card directly.

03

Order placed, pre-tax

Your HSA/FSA card is charged and your order goes through. If your balance doesn't cover the full amount, you can split it with a regular credit card.

01

Checkout with a regular card

For subscriptions, use a standard credit or debit card for the initial checkout. Do not use your HSA/FSA card here, as it breaks the reimbursement flow.

Using an HSA/FSA card at checkout will break the subscription reimbursement process.
02

Complete the survey the same day

Check your order confirmation email for the Truemed survey link, and complete it the same day as your purchase. A licensed practitioner reviews it and issues your LMN.

Same-day requirement. Check your inbox immediately after ordering.
03

Receive your LMN and claim

Your Letter of Medical Necessity arrives in 2 to 5 hours. Use it to submit each order for reimbursement through your HSA/FSA administrator. Claims typically pay out in 2 to 4 weeks.

Your LMN covers the full subscription period. Truemed sends renewal guidance so you never lose coverage as long as you're subscribed.

Why pre-tax dollars go further

HSA and FSA accounts use money before it's taxed, so the same $89 costs you less actual take-home pay when paid this way.

What is Truemed?

Truemed is a licensed healthcare platform that lets merchants accept HSA/FSA payments for health and wellness products. When you select "Pay with HSA/FSA" at checkout, Truemed connects you with an independent licensed practitioner who reviews a short, private health assessment.

If they determine medical necessity, a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is issued and your HSA/FSA payment is processed. Truemed is used by leading health brands including Peloton, Thorne, and Nike Strength.

Everything you need to know

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) let you set aside pre-tax income for qualified healthcare expenses. HSAs are paired with high-deductible health plans and roll over year to year, up to $4,400 for individuals or $8,750 for families in 2026. FSAs are employer-sponsored and typically expire at year end, so if you have one, use it before December 31st or you may lose it. If you're unsure whether you have either, check with your employer or insurance provider.
Yes, for qualified customers. Truemed connects you with a licensed provider who reviews your health information. If your sleep issues are associated with a diagnosable condition (insomnia, anxiety, chronic stress, metabolic conditions and others), Moongreens can qualify. There's no cost to you for this process and no guarantee you'll be approved, but the majority of qualifying customers are.
An LMN is a document from a licensed healthcare provider confirming that a product is medically necessary for a diagnosed condition. Once you have one, Moongreens can be treated as a qualified medical expense under IRS guidelines, the same way a prescription or doctor's visit would be. Your Truemed LMN is designed to meet IRS requirements for documenting medical necessity.
No problem. If the practitioner doesn't determine medical necessity, you can complete your purchase with a standard credit or debit card. There's no penalty, you won't be charged through Truemed, and your order isn't affected.
Generally 2 to 5 hours. For one-time purchases, the process happens entirely within the checkout flow. For subscriptions, the survey is completed after your order and the LMN arrives by email. If it hasn't arrived, check your spam folder first, then contact support@truemed.com.
Yes. If your HSA/FSA balance doesn't cover the full purchase, you can pay the remainder with a standard credit or debit card at checkout. There's no minimum HSA/FSA amount required.
No. Truemed's service is free for customers when shopping with a Truemed partner merchant like Moongreens. There are no hidden fees at any point in the process.
FSA dollars can be used year-round, but most FSA funds expire at the end of the calendar year and generally don't roll over. If you have FSA funds available, use them before December 31st to avoid losing them. Starting a Moongreens subscription is one way to put those funds toward something your body actually needs.
No. Truemed is currently only available in the United States, and HSA and FSA are US-specific benefit programmes.

Use pre-tax dollars, sleep better tonight.
