The basics

A night-recovery greens drink. Mix one scoop with water 30–120 minutes before bed to support deeper sleep, overnight recovery, gut health and next-day clarity. 20+ plant-based ingredients, zero melatonin, one scoop a night. Made in the USA.

High-performing professionals, roughly 32–48, who fall asleep fine but wake unrecovered — the 3am wake-up, running on sleep debt by Thursday. People who've tried melatonin and watched it stop working. Not biohackers; just smart people who want one thing that works.

Three things set it apart. Zero melatonin — no tolerance, no receptor downregulation, no morning fog. Clinically studied ingredients in bioavailable forms, not trace amounts for the label. And it addresses the actual drivers of poor sleep in high performers — cortisol, sleep architecture, the gut-sleep axis — not just sleep onset. More on the melatonin point here.

Both, by design — and neither in the usual sense. It's a purpose-built night-recovery formula: sleep-specific actives plus a recovery layer of greens, vitamins and minerals. Not a daytime greens drink, not a sedative.

Natural Berry and Citrus — fresh and light, deliberately not the earthy, grassy taste typical of greens powders. Best cold.

30 servings — one scoop a night, so one bag is a month.

One scoop, about 8.5g. The bag is 255g (9oz) net weight, around 20 calories per serving.

Zero melatonin

Because for most people melatonin is the wrong tool. Your body makes about 0.1–0.3mg at the onset of darkness; pharmacy tablets pack 5–10mg — dozens of times that. Flood the receptors nightly and they downregulate: you need more, then it stops working, and you wake groggy. Moongreens supports your own melatonin pathway instead. Full breakdown here.

Receptor downregulation. At supraphysiological doses your melatonin receptors lose sensitivity over time — the same dose does less, until it does nothing. Moongreens has no melatonin and no tolerance mechanism: night 90 works like night 1.

The core issue is dependency — supplying a hormone your body already makes, at doses far above what it expects, which downregulates your natural production. Whether that qualifies as harm is still researched, but tolerance, grogginess and reduced natural output are well documented. We go deeper here.

It's the predictable result of taking a hormone at up to 100× the dose your body produces — your system is still clearing it come morning. Moongreens contains none, which is exactly why there's no hangover.

Yes, but stop the melatonin when you start rather than stacking both. Give your receptors 2–3 weeks to normalise and let the formula work as designed — supporting your own production rather than competing with an external dose.

By supporting the mechanisms behind sleep rather than overriding them: ingredients that help modulate evening cortisol, quiet the nervous system, lower core body temperature for deep-sleep onset, and support your own serotonin-to-melatonin pathway.

The formula & ingredients

20+ plant-based actives built around ashwagandha (KSM-66®), magnesium bisglycinate, L-theanine, L-glycine and GABA, with a recovery layer of greens, tart cherry, a probiotic blend, and bioavailable vitamins and minerals. The complete Supplement Facts panel is on the product page.

KSM-66® is the most clinically studied ashwagandha. It helps modulate the HPA axis — the system that governs cortisol — supporting the nervous-system wind-down and the wired-but-tired, 2–4am wake-up pattern. It builds over 6–8 weeks, which is why the protocol is 90 nights.

Most cheap supplements use magnesium oxide — roughly 4% absorbed, with a laxative effect. Moongreens uses magnesium bisglycinate chelate: highly absorbable and gentle on the gut. The number on the label is meaningless if your body can't absorb it. More here.

It promotes alpha brainwave activity — the calm of meditation — without sedation, quieting the mental noise that keeps high performers awake at the start of the night.

L-glycine helps lower core body temperature, the main physiological trigger for slow-wave (deep) sleep onset.

Because about 90% of serotonin — the precursor to melatonin — is made in the gut. The probiotic blend and prebiotic fibre support the gut-sleep axis alongside the sleep-specific actives. More on that link here.

Spirulina, spinach, wheatgrass and broccoli add micronutrient density that supports overnight cellular repair — which is what makes Moongreens a recovery formula, not just a sleep aid.

The formula uses clinically studied ingredients in bioavailable forms rather than trace amounts for label optics. Exact amounts per serving are on the Supplement Facts panel on the product page.

No. Zero caffeine — it's a night formula.

Yes. Entirely plant-based; all ingredients are vegan.

Yes to all three, as stated on the packaging.

No. The label states: Allergens — None.

Lightly sweetened with steviol glycosides (a natural stevia-derived sweetener) — under 2g total sugars per serving, no sugar added and no artificial sweeteners.

Yes — vitamin D3, vitamin C, B vitamins (B1, B3, B6, B12), zinc (as a bisglycinate chelate) and trace minerals, all relevant to overnight recovery. Amounts are on the panel.

How to take it

↑ Top

30–120 minutes before bed — ideally 30–60 minutes before you start to unwind.

One scoop with 10–15 fl oz of water. Cold or room temperature brings the flavour through best. Stir or shake until dissolved.

Yes — coconut water works well. Any liquid is fine. Just avoid anything caffeinated; it's a night formula.

Cold or room temperature is best for flavour. A warm mix is fine if you prefer a warm drink before bed.

Yes — it's a nightly ritual, and the benefit is cumulative. Consistency over 90 nights is what matters.

Just continue the next night. One missed night doesn't reset anything.

No — it's designed as a single-scoop serving. Don't exceed the recommended daily intake.

Moongreens is built to replace a typical evening stack — magnesium, ashwagandha, greens, B vitamins, zinc — so you may be doubling up. If you're on medication or have a condition, check with your healthcare professional first.

On nights with a drink or two it still helps. It can't fully counteract heavier drinking — alcohol fragments sleep regardless. More here.

Caffeine has a 5–7 hour half-life, so a 3pm coffee is still active at 10pm — cut caffeine by 2pm for best results. Moongreens helps but can't overcome active caffeine. More here.

Yes. Take it 30–60 minutes before your intended sleep time in the new zone. Unlike melatonin it doesn't anchor to a fixed clock — it adapts to your schedule.

Yes. Take it 30–60 minutes before your intended sleep period, whatever the clock says.

Yes — about 20 calories per serving, negligible for most fasting protocols. Check your protocol if you follow a strict zero-calorie fast.

What to expect

↑ Top

L-theanine and glycine produce noticeable effects in the first week for most people — easier onset, less mental noise. The deeper KSM-66® effects (lower cortisol, fewer 3am wake-ups, real next-day energy) build over weeks 3–8. By night 90 most people have a new baseline.

A calmer wind-down, easier sleep onset, possibly more vivid dreams as REM increases. Don't judge it in week one — you're in the early phase.

Around 30 days mornings start on the right side of baseline and the 3am wake-up eases. By 60 days the adaptogen stack is near full effect and HRV often trends up. By 90 days it's your new normal: consistent quality and genuine morning recovery.

Common in the first 1–2 weeks, usually a sign of increased REM sleep, which is restorative. It typically settles by weeks 2–4. More on REM here.

In the first week or two some people spend more time in deep sleep and feel that as heavier mornings while the body adjusts. It usually resolves within two weeks. If it persists, email support@moongreens.com (and check with your doctor if you're on medication).

That calm is the L-theanine and GABA working on wind-down — the first stage. The deeper quality gains, mainly from KSM-66®, build over 4–8 weeks. Stay consistent.

Waking without needing to recover from sleep itself; the 2–4am wake-up easing; clearer mornings; not reaching for caffeine in the first hour. A wearable (Oura, Garmin, Whoop) can track deep sleep, HRV and sleep score over the 90 nights.

First check the timeline — under 6 weeks and the adaptogen stack hasn't reached effect — plus consistency and disruptors (alcohol, late caffeine, high stress). If you're consistent for 8+ weeks with no change, email support@moongreens.com and James reviews it personally. If you're a subscriber within 90 nights, you're covered for a full refund.

The 90-night guarantee & returns

↑ Top

Start on any subscription and if Moongreens hasn't changed how you sleep by night 90, you get a full refund — no return needed, no questions. It's 90 nights because that's the honest timeline: the adaptogen stack takes 6–8 weeks to reach full effect, so a 30-night window would ask you to judge it before it's worked.

No — it covers subscription orders only, not one-time purchases. Any subscription plan qualifies, so if you want the guarantee, start on a subscription rather than a single bag.

Email support@moongreens.com within 90 nights of your first subscription order with your order number. We process a full refund — no return required.

Within 5–7 business days of approval, back to your original payment method.

Email support@moongreens.com with your order number and a photo. We reship immediately at no cost — no need to return the original — whether you're a subscriber or a one-time buyer.

It's real and has been honoured since launch. It only makes commercial sense if the product works, which is the point.

James Higgins — a British entrepreneur with a decade in banking (Lloyds, RBS) before building Moongreens. He built it after years of poor sleep as a high performer: tried melatonin, watched it fail, researched the science, and made the product he couldn't find. He's reachable at james@moongreens.com.

Yes. James runs the business directly — when you contact Moongreens you're dealing with a lean, founder-led team, not a faceless corporation.

Made in the USA — Allen, Texas — in an FDA-registered, GMP-compliant facility, and fulfilled from Hebron, Kentucky. Midnight Atlas Inc, a Delaware C-Corporation, operates the brand.

Selling direct means controlling quality, pricing and the relationship end-to-end — and it's how the guarantee, the subscription model and personal support are even possible. It's deliberate, and it isn't on Amazon.

Yes — entirely plant-based, no animal testing, sustainable bag materials, and made in the USA. More sustainability work is in development.

As described in the privacy policy — used to process orders, manage subscriptions and communicate with you, and not sold to third parties.

A community investment round is planned for 2027. Email invest@moongreens.com to register interest and James will be in touch when it opens.

Sleep science

↑ Top

Almost always cortisol. It naturally rises before waking; when it's dysregulated by chronic stress or late work, that rise comes earlier and sharper, pulling you out of deep sleep. The fix is addressing cortisol, not forcing sedation — more here.

It's bidirectional: high evening cortisol blocks deep-sleep initiation, and poor sleep raises the next day's cortisol — a compounding loop. Breaking it is central to how Moongreens works. Background here.

Sleep runs in roughly 90-minute cycles of light, slow-wave (deep) and REM sleep. Total hours don't equal recovery — time in deep and REM does. That's why you can sleep eight hours and still feel wrecked. More here.

The most physically restorative stage — growth hormone release, muscle repair, immune strengthening, and brain waste clearance. It happens mostly in the first half of the night and is reduced by cortisol, alcohol and poor timing.

The stage tied to dreaming, memory and emotional processing, mostly in the second half of the night. Alcohol, some medications and fragmentation cut it. More here.

During deep sleep, channels in the brain widen and cerebrospinal fluid flushes metabolic waste, including amyloid beta. Chronic light sleep means that clear-out keeps failing — the brain fog is literal. More here.

About 90% of serotonin — the precursor to melatonin — is made in the gut, so gut inflammation impairs melatonin signalling. Moongreens supports both sides. More here.

It helps you drop off but suppresses REM and causes rebound waking in the second half of the night — fragmented, unrestorative sleep. More here.

Caffeine blocks adenosine — the molecule that builds sleep pressure all day. With a 5–7 hour half-life, an afternoon coffee is still working at night. Full explainer here.

The chemical that accumulates while you're awake and creates the drive to sleep. Caffeine masks it rather than clearing it — which is why coffee keeps you up without making you rested. More here.

The cumulative gap between the sleep you need and what you get. It's only partially repayable, and the cognitive costs persist past a weekend lie-in — consistent nightly quality beats occasional catch-up. More here.

Heart Rate Variability reflects the balance between your stress and recovery nervous systems; higher HRV in sleep means better recovery. Stress, poor sleep and alcohol suppress it — many subscribers track it on Oura, Garmin or Whoop.

Your roughly 24-hour internal clock, set mainly by light — morning light raises cortisol, darkness triggers melatonin. Late screens, irregular times and shift work degrade sleep across every stage. More here.

Significantly. Six hours a night for two weeks produces impairment equivalent to two full nights without sleep — and people lose the ability to notice their own decline. More here.

Better sleep,
starting tonight.

One scoop. 90 nights. Full refund if it doesn't change how you sleep — subscription only.
